Remote heat pipe heat sinks, using cost-effective coolants like methanol or water, can move hundreds of watts of heat and stand up to extreme variations of temperature. An Aavid Thermacore remote dissipation cooling system for Navy radar cooling performed successfully after 200 cycles between -40° C and 70° C, and its simple, rugged construction stood up to heavy shock tests without faltering.

Therma-Sink® — When Space is Limited

therma-sink heat pipeAavid Thermacore’s proprietary Therma-Sink incorporates a heat pipe and moves heat from an attachment plate at the heat source to a location where fin volume can be made sufficient for reliable heat removal. Fins, stacked on the heat pipes, provide dissipate heat to the air. It’s a technology designed for applications with limited space directly above the component (such as Blade Servers). These solutions give designers the flexibility to use multiple Therma-Sinks for transferring heat to a common airflow. Therma-Sink can also be located above, below or on the same level as the heat source, making possible a wide variety of design configurations.
